Overview
Perched on the eastern horizon of Kathmandu valley lies mystical and peaceful Namobuddha Monastery, complemented by a backdrop of the mighty Himalayas and pristine trails through secluded backcountry. Spend the night at the monastery, joining monks in meditation, before continuing the next day to Panauti through the scenic countryside.
Dhulikhel-Namobuddha hike
Starting from Dhulikhel, this hike meanders through dense pine forests, terrace farmlands, and quaint Tamang villages, with sweeping views of the Himalayan range guiding the path. The trail gradually ascends, with glimpses of rural life unfolding at each turn. Upon reaching Namobuddha, the sacred stupa and monastery complex sit atop a hill, draped in prayer flags that flutter in the mountain breeze
Namobuddha Monastery and overnight at monastery accommodatiom
Nestled on a hilltop within striking distance from the city, Namobuddha is one of Nepal’s most sacred Buddhist monuments, known for its tale of the Buddha’s sacrifice to save a starving tigress and her cubs. Moreover, picturesque views from the monastery offer a spiritual retreat and an unforgettable experience of Nepal’s Buddhist heritage. Pray and eat with the monks.
Namobuddha-Balthali-Panauti hike
On the second day, hike from Namobuddha to Balthali through traditional villages, terraced farms, and scenic ravines like Eklekhet, crossing suspension bridges and soaking in mountain views. End in Panauti, a historic Newari town rich in culture and timeless temples—a perfect blend of nature, heritage, and tranquility.
