Day Hike / Kathmandu Valley / Nepal Three Thumka HikeNext Date:
Sweeping panorama of the urbanscape merges into snowcapped mountains on the distant horizon as you explore south-east Kathmandu's gorgeous countryside foothills. Coming Soon |
On this spectacular hike, we explore foothills on the south-eastern side of the valley connected by flowy trails that pass through several settlements and forests. You’ll find yourself hiking through utter greenery of terraced fields, and though charming villages. But these pale in comparison to the widest and most dramatic panoramas of the urbanscape, hills and mountains seen from these ridges – easily some of our favorites. If you’re looking for a quaint escape to the hills with the right amount of challenge to revel in eyecandy sights, this hike is it.
On a clear day, you can see stunning views of the cityscape merging into layers of hills and high snowcapped Himalayas
Mountain ranges you see include Manaslu, Ganesh, Langtang and Rolwaling, and on super clear days, they’re joined by Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Everest ranges
Pristine and mostly relaxing trails go through charming countryside of all three thumkas (ie hillocks), where sweeping views follow you throughout, making this one of the most photogenic hikes we have designed
A mix of jungle single trails, wide trails and some paved road connecting the three thumkas. Pleasant tea stop with a view at Anantalingeswor
Fresh air, temples and stone sprouts along the way. Pilot Baba in particular stands out with its prominent double Shikhar structure, seen from the second of the two climbs of this hike |
