Manaslu region, under the shadow of Mt. Manaslu (World’s eight highest mountain) and Ganesh Himal ranges, is located in Gorkha district, west of Kathmandu. The entire region was restricted for foreigners until 1991 AD, making it untouched and unspoiled compared to the other regions in Nepal. From lush green forests, waterfalls, rivers, pristine and diverse trails, stunning mountain views and settlements with rich Tibetan culture housing centuries-old Buddhist monasteries, the region has a lot to offer.

You can choose to trek to the hidden valleys of Tsum and Nubri, or go for the classic Manaslu Circuit trek where you circumnavigate the Manaslu mountain and reach Annapurna region by crossing the iconic Larke Pass at 5106 meters. Manaslu circuit is a great alternative to Annapurna Circuit trek, with less chaos and outer influence. Trekking in Manaslu does not require camping as you can find basic tea houses all along the trails. You will, however, need a restricted area permit along with the conservation area permits to trek in Manaslu.
