Located just outside historic Bhaktapur, Tahaja is a traditional property designed by Himalayan architecture expert Niels Gutschow. Surrounded by lush gardens and rice fields, this serene retreat provides the perfect setting for a relaxed cooking experience. Guests select a local dish in advance—such as momos, daal bhat, or samay baji—and are guided through an informal, hands-on cooking session led by a skilled team using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The session emphasizes ‘learning by doing’ in a warm and welcoming environment. After cooking, guests can savor their meal in Tahaja’s beautiful dining arcade, which overlooks the fields and gardens, with the option to try homemade local rice liquor. The day can be rounded off with a cup of coffee, exploring the nearby historic streets of Bhaktapur, or taking a leisurely stroll through the surrounding countryside.
